About the Local Area
Litton Cheney is an ideal base for visiting nearby Abbotsbury with Tithe Barn, Swannery, sub-tropical garden, children`s farm and smugglers barn. There is something to do even on wet days. Nearby Hardy`s monument provides an historic walking area over open heathland.
Weymouth with its bay and harbour is a few miles away and is worth exploring for leisure activities and organised amusements for children. Within easy travelling from the cottage there are facilities for all watersports, sailing, fishing (sea, coarse and river trout) fossil hunting, horse-riding and cycling. The coastal walk along Chesil beach to Golden Cap is breathtakingly beautiful and Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club will welcome golfing visitors. Telephone 01308/421095 for fees and details.
Summer is not the only time to enjoy Dorset. All year round the climate is mild and the changing seasons provide plenty of interesting scenery and the opportunity to observe wildlife. The footpath network throughout the county is unsurpassed.
